Coverage by care setting.
The coverages are broadly the same across senior care. What differs is which terms decide the outcome. Skilled nursing turns on defense treatment and retention mechanics. Memory care turns on assault wording and elopement. A CCRC turns on the board exposure created by a financial promise. Pick the setting you operate.
Most operators run more than one of these, which is the point: a program assembled around a single setting will not answer for the others, and adding a setting to a schedule of locations is not the same as underwriting it.
Short answers to the common questions, grouped the same way
SNF
Skilled Nursing
The highest-severity setting in senior care, and the one where defense-inside-limits and abuse sublimits do the most damage.

Memory care
Memory Care
Elopement, wandering and resident-on-resident altercation drive a claim profile that a standard assisted living program is not always written for.

ALF
Assisted Living
Licensed under fifty different regimes, sold as one product. What the license requires and what a lender requires are rarely the same number.

CCRC
CCRC / Life Plan
Every level of care under one license structure, usually with bond covenants and a board that carries its own exposure.

IL
Independent Living
Priced as real estate until a resident falls and the claim gets pleaded as professional liability anyway.

Board and care
Residential Care Home
Six to sixteen beds, often owner-run, and the segment most likely to be carrying a program nobody has read in years.

Home care
Home Care and Home Health
No building, but professional liability, auto and wage-and-hour exposure that a facility policy does not answer.

What does not change
Four questions apply in every setting on this page.
Are defense costs inside or outside the limit?
On an eroding limit the number on the declarations page is a ceiling on defense and settlement combined.
How far below the main limit is the abuse sublimit?
Abuse produces the largest verdicts in senior care and is almost never granted at the full limit.
Does the retroactive date still reach back?
A retro date advanced at a carrier change leaves every earlier year of operations uninsured.
Is the aggregate shared or per location?
A shared aggregate lets one bad building consume the limits protecting all the others.
